Spam on the rise

hi @pfaffman, do you have any advice for managing spam? Today has seen a heavy day of flagging and deleting spammers who are somehow making there way in to the forum more than usual. Thank you

If it’s a huge flurry and they are obvious when you look at the profile, then you can turn on must approve users.

If you don’t have maxmind database keys (that will let you see where their IPs are) you should get those.

And you don’t (I’m assuming that you’re connected to @Asher_Densmore-Lynn). See Configure MAXMIND for reverse IP lookups - Sysadmins - Discourse Meta and get me DISCOURSE_MAXMIND_ACCOUNT_ID andDISCOURSE_MAXMIND_LICENSE_KEY (a PM here is probably safe enough). If Asher could confirm that you’re connected with the site, that would be good  )

Stephen is, Jay – thanks! I had no idea MaxMind had a free tier or I’d’ve done this a while back. I’ll send that PM momentarily.
